UX/UI DESIGNER

We are recruiting an experienced UX/UI Designer to join our elite team as part of our multidisciplinary teams and lead UX focused project teams.  You will design information systems that directly support decision-making for complex, difficult military and private sector problems.  You will work closely with our talented group of cognitive systems engineers and software developers by providing innovative designs and specifications of information, visualization, and functionality requirements as guidance for their system development efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with Cognitive System Engineers, Developers, and others to build UI designs for client decision solutions for critical, high stakes environments.

  • Create and prototype innovative and useful GUI designs for these complex domains by integrating UX Design best practices into our uniquely decision centered engineering methodology.

  • Explore UX User's Experience design options including brainstorming solutions, visualizing, prototyping, testing, and making things tangible at a concept level.

  • Construct the final designs to turn ideas and mock-ups into executable, tangible materials for the client solution; participate in discussions with client and team members to explore design solutions.

  • Display high adaptability and steadiness in performance in a high-performance environment; manage design system and standard library of reusable assets across various applications.

  • Perform iterative evaluations of system prototypes and operational evaluations of fielded decision support systems.

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, under the supervision of senior and principal Cognitive System Engineers, translating decision requirements into specific GUI designs on decision-centered projects.

  • Communicate directly with customers and subject matter experts.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information science, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Centered Design, Human Factors Engineering, Graphic Design, or related field with experiences in UX/UI design.

  • 3+ years as UX/UI designer for complex systems.

  • Technically proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator. Familiarity with Basic HTML5, CSS3. JavaScript and React are also helpful.

  • Demonstrated experience in using UX design best practices to create and implement UI designs.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multi-discipline, team-based environment.  Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate ideas, designs, and suggestions to create elegant user interfaces.

  • Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize data for the best possible outcome.

  • Project Management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects efficiently, estimate and schedule UX design efforts.

  • Familiarity and interest in designing systems and/or UIs that deal with high data volumes, complex embedded analytic agents (including AI/ML, LLM etc.) and include rich data visualizations.

  • Current TS/SCI clearance preferred.

Location

This is a hybrid work model with our office located in Pittsburgh, PA.  Strong candidates with exceptional alignment to the role will be considered for remote work if they are located near client facilities.
