Who We Are
We are ergonomic Specialists for the Brain
Welcome to the heart and soul or our business. We thrive in complex decision environments and get our thrills from designing revolutionary decision support systems. Cognitive Systems Engineering (CSE) is a broad, multi-disciplinary field requiring a great deal from its practitioners. Our CSEs come from many different places and many different backgrounds but share a common goal: to design systems that respect how humans think.
We enable war-winning decisions through advanced human-machine teams. Our resilient cognitive solutions support the future of research, command and control, intelligence analysis and acquisitions.
cOGNITIVE sYSTEM tRIAD
Cognitive Systems Engineering (CSE) focuses at the intersections of the needs of Agents (human decision-maker), interacting with the various Artifacts and technologies (affordances) to affect the situation, to solve problems imposed by the World, (Woods & Roth, 1988). This is known as the "cognitive system triad," which exploits foundational research into an effective engineering practice to invent revolutionary new system concepts. It delivers truly effective decision support tools as part of a larger teaming of user and system - the Joint Cognitive System.
RCS uses decades of cognitive science and AI research to design human-machine Joint Cognitive Systems (JCS) that prevent cognitive bias, improve analytic rigor, and perform at big data scales and speeds. Our Applied Cognitive Systems Engineering (ACSE) approach dates back to seminal research at Westinghouse following Three Mile Island and today produces revolutionary designs that bring data, information, and AI analytics to life using intuitive and compelling visualizations. The JCS perspective is baked into all aspects of our corporate mission, culture, and processes.
“If it's too TOUGH for them, it's just right for us.”
— Marv Levy, the former NFL Buffalo Bills coach
